G'day all

I thought I'd stick me head in the door & say hello. I've never done this computer social stuff before, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I didn't get far before I got asked a trick question, (Category) given that I'm talking about myself here, I didn't know whether to pick animal, histor or beauty, anyway I'll let you be the judge of that. I'm an Aussie & the names Bob, bet ya didn't know that, I spend most of me days up north working in isolated regions of the outback, so communication can be a bit of a hit & miss affair. Anyways nice to meet ya all & by the way me mates call me Hoges, after you know who.

Welcome, mate. There are quite a few Aussies here, and they are colorful characters, indeed. Some of us even know who Bindy Irwin is!

  • Well your a cheeky young miss, while you're not in the car, the bull dust will be kept to a minimum, & my head isn't weather beaten by the way, it's full of character, if you don't mind. I'm assuming your a fellow aussie & have been up this way?

  • Never mind the kangaroos. Just make sure he keeps his cassowaries locked up. I would NOT want to run into a crankyu cassowary.

  • The son of a bloke that worked for me years back, almost had his arm severed by a cassowary, try'n to stop it from attempting to disembowel him.

  • G'day, Bob. Here's a big welcome from over east. I haven't been to WA for about 20 years but two of my sons lived there for a while. Another one went over an swam from Freo to Rotto. Bloody masochist!

When I was in Perth I saw a bumper sticker that said, "Nullarbor is an aboriginal word meaning Bored Shitless." That's a total lie. It's certainly an aboriginal word but it means "Not far enough from Melbourne."

Good to have you with us, mate. We've got a few Aussies -- all good blokes, including the sheilas.

  • Good on ya champ, I haven't spent much time in Perth, did a bit in me younger days. Started in Hey street & woke behind bars, could never work out the connection. The place used to shut down a 10:00pm except for the odd disco-tech, so all the fun used to happen out the back, nudge nudge wink wink

I'v based myself in Port Headland these days, but I'd be lucky to spend 4 days a month here. Get back, let me hair down, load the truck for the next job & bugger off again.

Ha, speak'n of the Nulla, I was fueling up once at Ceduna, a car towing a caravan pulled up opposite me at the bowser. This bloke said to me "how far is Perth", I pointed in the direction he pulled in from & said "about 1200 mile that way mate". He said "I'm on me way there, we left Eucla this morning" I said "by any chance did ya notice that you were driving into the sun all afternoon yesterday"? He said "yep" I said "did ya find it odd that you were driving into the sun again this morning, ya blonk" He recons that he didn't notice. The empty head spent the day driving back towards Adelaide. Some people weren't meant to leave the big smoke.

  • Cripes, Hoges, that had me laughing. Great way to start the day! Yeah, I've met people that think. They're just as hopeless in the city and dreadful behind the wheel of a car. I live on the Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney. City boy all my life.

When Hogan has his weekly show in the box there was a skit where they sent him off as Ausrralian ambassador to some little Arab sheikhdom and he arrived bearing gifts. He handed over a meat pie, a six pack of Fosters, and without a word of explanation, two bricks. Cracked me up. I had to explain it to Mrs Didge. There'll be no need to explain it to you. :)
