There is nothing new under the sun. Do you agree or dis? Why?

Ecclesiastes 1:4-11.

"What has been is what will be
And what has been done
Is what will be done
And there is nothing new
Under the sun"

Ecclesiastes is one of the 24 books of the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible).
It dates  from  450-150 B.C.

Since 150 B.C. many news things exist that didn't exist then. So clearly it was untrue taken on its face.
As a metaphor what does it mean? Why do you think so?

    I agree with it.
I interpret that passage as speaking directly about human behavior -- action and reaction, not material things.

Ecclesiastes was a right old pessimist. Just one of many often conflicting viewpoints in the Bible.

    Lazy students may particularly like

And further, my son, by these words be admonished: of making many books there is no end, and much study is a weariness to the flesh.
