Are there any popular idioms that you would like to change or reword.

This could be because they've been flogged to death, have exceeded their shelf life because they are offensive or irritating for whatever reason, or that they just aren't very good.

I would like to substiute 'cat amongst the pigeons' with 'dog amongst the sausages'. Its meaning would be more or less the same but dogs are better than cats. :)

  • I think the "Grass is always greener on the other side" should be changed to " The grass is always greener in the cemetery".

  • I'd like to change the song title "People who need people are the luckiest people in the world" to "People who LIKE people..." Different kettle of fish altogether.

And before we go down that path, why should it be a kettle of fish? Why not a frying pan of fish?

    Pinching one from Lago's answer...

I think the fish and frying pan is spot on, let's face it the 'originals' are just plain misleading.
    Thank you again. Very good.
