Nope.  Not as picky an eater as I was as a child, but still quite particular.

  • For a kid who was raised on meat and potatoes (literally) I've come a long way. Even so there are some things I won't eat and some I prefer not to.

I'm not very keen on German wurst. Perhaps if I only ate the best of the wurst I'd be fine, but the worst of the wurst is unpalatable.

I've never eaten snails but I have no objection. I can't imagine them to being less edible than, say, prawns. (One of my sons ate witchetty grubs when he went bush in central Australia. He said they were pretty good. Tasted a bit nutty.)

I've never eaten oysters and they don't appeal. Dunno why not. Just prejudice I guess. I'm probably a closet oysterphobe ... or perhaps I'm just a fraidy cat who doesn't want to choke on a pearl.

Apart from that I'll eat just about anything.

  • She has a lovely string of pearls. Doesn't get to wear them much any more.

  • I'm not terribly picky about food unless it's a dish I grew up with.  Those I am very particular about.

  • I've had cooked lettuce in a Korean salad. I loved it.

  • It's very good. All of the salad ingredients are sauteed and served with a warm dressing.

When in Montreal, at lunch every restaurant seemed to have cabbage soup (Each one was different, so we tried them all) One day hit a restaurant that didn't have cabbage soup, but rather lettuce soup. It was, like all the cabbage soups, a culinary delight.

  • I knew about cabbage soup, of course, but wouldn't have thought of lettuce soup. That'll teach me for trying to be a smartie. :(

I eat a lot of raw veggies, usually because I'm in such a rush to get out the door.

Actually it is good, doctors usually recommend raw veggies....I need something to spice it up and cooking it makes it more flavorful;))

I must admit.. I do get some odd looks while sitting on the train.. I think it's the munching sound that draws the attention.

And just between you & I.. they tend to make you a little gassy.... oh dear that wasn't me. ;-)

  • I'm an extremely picky eater. Picked up the trait from my father. I have become better as I have aged, but I'm hesitant to try new cuisines.

I agree, certain traits we do pick up from parents.
