Discussion»Questions»Human Behavior» If you've been fighting fighting fighting and losing losing losing, at what point do you give up and admit defeat? Why?
For me, maybe not so much to admit defeat, as just to stop fighting and explore what it might mean to simply let the difficult situation happen...
* * * Thinking now of 2015 when I got evicted, I had been struggling to get the landlords to honour their promises about rent increases and other prevarications.
Finally I just decided to let it all go, and make them evict me; so I went to the court hearing but did not fight it, just said, "I have nothing to add."
It meant I ended up homeless for ten months, but those were unusual, fruitful, remarkable times. Wouldn't necessarily want to do it again, but would not have missed it, either.
Wow! This is a very heavy response to a question that was very lightweight and off-the-cuff! I'm so glad you survived and are here today to tell me about it Virginia L. I truly am. Thank you for your heartfelt and thoughtful reply and thanks for stopping by. Happy Thursday! :)
Rosie, I don't like to fight, so I won't beat a dead horse or cast my pearls before swine. I don't have to win every fight or have to have the last word. You gotta know when to hold um, and know when to fold um.
