  • I was thinking today, when I walked my dog, that rescuing him last year was the last thing I've done that really mattered.
Thank you Mr Harry. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at February 25, 2017 6:14 PM MST

What kind of dog?  Why did you pick this one?  Where did you get it?  Name?  Pic?  I need to know everything.

He is a yorkie mix.  I picked him because his picture spoke to me.  He looked very confused and completely neglected.  I adopted him through a local rescue group.  My name & avatar here are his name and photo.  He is just the latest of many I've adopted and/or fostered over the years.  He is one of the smallest and most emotionally damaged I've had to contend with. You are a dog hero!  The pic is so cute.  Taking creatures who are so damaged is so rewarding because the improvement is so obvious and endearing.  We adopted a fierce and terrified cat who, we learned from her behaviour, had been tortured by children.  She grew to love us, but the rules of her body were always quite clear.  I'm so glad you're doing this.  Thanks for responding.

Thanks for asking.  I don't think I'm a dog hero.  It's more of a selfish motive that I do what I do.  I've always had & loved dogs since I was a kid.  I find it very fulfilling & satisfying seeing their progression into a well balanced & happy dog.  I like cats too & I've worked with ferals but very sporadically during my life and over the past few years I've had to stop completely.  I'm severely allergic so I must limit my exposure.  LOL, I'm actually allergic to dog dander too but not to the extent I am with cats & birds.

LOL!  Yes, Harry is the dog.  I thought in the "about me" section of my profile it would be apparent to people.  I was going to tell you not to call me Mr. Harry but you seemed so comfortable with it, I didn't want to disappoint you or stir things up.

Some days, I'm not so sure if it was good that we found each other.  LOL!  He's a tough customer and there are days I just want to drop kick him.  But, I have the same feelings toward certain people in my life so I realize it's me, not him, and I give him a pass.  ;-)
