Work boots for women.

In Oz, women working in industrial areas are compelled, by OHS regulations, to wear steel capped work boots. They're not very flattering. How do you think women would respond if work boots came in bright pastel colours and stiletto heels?

What else can we do to make the lives of these hard-working women a little more glamorous?

  • I've seen pink and purple work boots.   Rarely with someone wearing them.

  • Now there's an interesting thought. Might get a bit hot working in them, though.

  • It would be fair to presume men are held to the same standard of industrial footware, no? The intent, no doubt, is safety. Glamor has it's place, I submit that the heavy industrial environment isn't it.

While we might ponder the marketability of "fashionable styles", we are badly served to sacrifice safe function for frivolous vanity. I should think any woman -any person- mindful enough to survive in such settings for very long, would agree.

A suggestion I would offer to hike the glamor factor for women in industry, is to ensure they are paid and promoted just like the men doing the same jobs. This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 3, 2017 4:36 PM MST

  • Aww, spoilsport!

In the kind of job men and women do get the same pay and conditions over here.

  • Sadly here in the west, that isn't always the case.

Umm...nope.  Work boots are for safety.  I look for quality and comfort.

I wear boots to work but not steel toe.  They go great with my sexy dark blue work shirt and work pants!

  • They're certainly the most practical thing to wear in a lot of jobs.

Personally I would love some bright neon pink work shoes tennis shoe style....no heels.

I worked with a lady who had these in a white steel toe. She was a very "girly girl". I did not believe her when she told me they were steel toe but they were. I told her "only you, Joan, ony you" and that is true to this day after 20+ yrs, I have never seen another person with a pair similar. This post was edited by my2cents at March 3, 2017 12:17 PM MST

Stilettos might not be wishful in places where steeled toe work boots are needed. Hmm.

This one is with steel toe though. And there are various colors available, also different designs. ;-)

  • Nah it looks like a work boot that's blushing because it's embarrassed to be photographed.

  • Goldurn it, Virginia, another great idea conceived too late! It's already been done. I'd better go back to battery-operated bras that can warm the breasts in cold weather. Maybe I could add a wiggle function to make them attractive to teens.

Seems sensible, women's toes are just as fragile as men's.

Workplaces are for working primarily. Anything else, such as fancy looking should take second place.
