What does inflation mean to you? How has it affected you?

I once heard a group of seven year-olds talking about the increasing price of jellybeans and chocolates. They had already discovered the awful truth.

  • Depends on the expansion speed of that balloon. Sometimes they go ke-boom!

No pinball machines because a quarter isn't worth anything.

I put quarters in the cat's water bottle because they still have a silver wash and the ions prevent slime from growing. Other than that, I don't bother to carry coins home. I give them to a bum or drop them on the sidewalk for a kid to find.

The only reason we still have pennies is the government doesn't want to pay unemployment to zinc miners.

Can you believe people talk about "gold standard" in a country that can't even maintain a zinc standard?

  • In Oz, $1 and $2 buy so little now that they've become coins instead of notes. The $5 coin is planned but not for a little while yet.
