For me it was "Kung Fu". As a teen I belonged to the Kung Fu Fan Club and tried to emulate Kwai Chang. Having revisited the show as an adult I realized how bad it was. David Carridine may well be the worst actor ever, with the possible exception of Christopher Lambert.
Hi Whistle6, I was already adult 30's or something, but I remember my friend's son prevailed upon her to buy him a Kung Fu outfit (all white), and he would dress up in it and sit rapturous in front of the TV watching that!
Oh yeah. Well technically, since I was 20 before we got TV in Oz it wasn't my childhood but some of those old shows must have been dreadful. I've watched the odd episode on YouTube and wondered why I had ever liked them.
On the other hand some of them were great and it was a nice trip down Memory Lane.
One of my all-time favourites was ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS, and up until recently you could watch the episodes for free on HULU...so I did that, if anything liked 'em even better, I understood more!
Yes, that is great stuff. Two especially come to mind, One a college medical student steals a cadaver and convinces his room mate he had murdered his girl friend. The other a group of college students on spring break drug someone in their group and leave him with another guy they are going to pull a prank on. The victim wakes up and by the evidence thinks the drugged guy is dead. He buries him in the beach then goes to the others to report what happened. The other realize the buried guy was still alive and rush to the beach. The story closes here with a view of a huge expanse of beach and the tide has washed away foot prints and signs of burial. Both Hitchcock and Serling are masters of twist endings. The Twilight Zone has a small advantage in being just a half hour.

Yes! At the same time, I was going through the old episodes of Twilight Zone...also one called ONE STEP BEYOND. I went back to Hulu recently, and it does not even like look you can watch those for free anymore! So I am glad I watched 'em then, maybe it was last year.
Whistle6, I just checked on the years for OSB, and looks like it was 1959-1961...which means I was in my teens, old enough to know better, but at the time I swallowed it hook, line and sinker! Second time through...last year...it was just entertainment.
Yes I have now given up on Hulu...for a while, if you were REALLY persistent you could find your way through to the free stuff. When I tried recently wanting to see Hitchcock again, I was unable to do that...all pay now!
Oh no!!! Say it isn't so...come to think of it, yes I vaguely remember the remake...that utterly forgettable effort...
