Have you ever unexpectedly caught sight of your reflection in a shop window?

What did you think? Have you ever actually failed to recognise yourself, if only for a moment?

  • Ah, if only I had your good looks, Corey. My reflection could frighten dogs.

  • Sometimes it gets really interesting. My glasses sometimes get at just the right angle where it looks like a reflection of a reflection of a reflection. It's really weird! :) This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 8, 2017 2:43 PM MST

Hi Didge~  "AAAAHHHHHHH!" and ran as fast as I could to the hardware part of the department store.
I did recognize myself.  My hair is normally a mess because I drive a convertible but I, at least, could have brushed my teeth;) This post was edited by Merlin at March 9, 2017 9:42 AM MST

Indeed.  It does make for a very scary hair do.  It also makes for a very fun ride.  I brought it up in my answer because it was a catch 22 on advice I so freely give.
When people ask about how to help their self-esteem, I normally have a simple solution.  I urge them to always brush their teeth and hair before they go out in public.  It shows you care enough about yourself that you would like to be presentable to others.  This was an incident that I jumped in my car and ran to Home Depot.  The joke was on me.
I still encourage people to brush their hair and their teeth before going out in public.  I wish I had listened to my own advice.

Oh Didge~ In this day and age it is better you lived your 25, 35, and 45s when you did.  You might be disappointed to be experiencing them now.  The world is ever changing.  I think it is an honor to live as long as I have.  I like to look back, reflect, and smile.  I wouldn't want to be any other age than the age I am right now. :)  We like you just the way you are! :) :) And that is no foolin'  I couldn't imagine you with hair!!  :) :)

Hi Malizz~  Age is in the eye of the beholder.  You may not look as you did at 30 but the world isn't as it was when you were 30 either.  You fit in just right.  Who wants to go backwards when you can go forwards. :) :)

  • Well not a shop window but an unexpected glimpse.  I was staying at a friend's home after open heart surgery.  I got up through the night for a pee.   In leaving the bathroom my shadow on the wall caught me so off guard I shouted out.

  • Surprisingly, perhaps, I can understand that. It could happen to anybody.

Good Morning WW~  You have a great taste and eye for quality.... As they say, birds of a feather flock together.  This means you are too WW :)  It is always a pleasure to be around when you are gabbing at one another.  I say this in due respect to both of you.  You are a blast!
