Any idea why a polar bear is the mascot for a dark rum made in Australia?
Rum is made from a crop that grows in tropical and sub tropical climates. Australia is perhaps the farthest populated place from where polar bears exist in the wild.
Ok... To put you out of your collective miseries. In 1961, the company introduced the polar bear as its unusual choice of mascot, to imply that the rum could ward off the coldest chill.[3]
This might not be very flattering but whenever I read your comments I hear them in Shazza's voice.

He was the strongest man I ever met. Luftwaffe mechanic during WWII. Big, friendly, talkative. He was my next door neighbour for almost 30 years. Moved away about 1995.
Oh you see Glis that black rum may make you intoxicated enough to see a white polar bear....ok I googled right now and saw that polar bear is not white and their fur is actually transparent and holds no color. OOPS I AM NOT AN AUSSIE... PLEASE IGNORE MY ANSWER;))
