I am forever an advocate for people only having children if and when they are mentally, emotionally, physically, financially and in many other ways prepared to have children. Amen to that, common sense very few have today.

They have also received dispensations for all affected personnel, from all major organized religions to serve what is available when necessary during combat or other adverse conditions even if the meals are not according to their religious practices. On another subject, Chaplains in all military services are trained and authorized (by their own religious order) to perform religious rights and services of all the major religions represented in the military services. I have seen a Rabbi Chaplain give the Catholic last rights to a soldier who was about to die. As an example.  less

It seems they have all adjusted well. That said, I must also say the systems have been in place for decades and decades. To make such a drastic switch in the United States would require two systems running parallel in the beginning. The old system would have to continue till all the children had completed High School. The new system would start at any given time and all children entering school for the first time would be enrolled. It would be a financial nightmare at first to say the least. I doubt very much it would be accepted by the general populace. Right now there are several school districts in the US already running a year long school program. How they are turning out I don't know.  less

A few years ago in Virginia, USA, two armed men accosted two guards who were unloading an armored truck at a local bank. They took the guards weapons and handcuffed the guards in the armored truck. They were seen running across the street and into a multi level parking garage. Once in the garage they ran to a parked "U-Haul" rental van. They opened the rear doors (it was all unlocked) and thew in all the weapons (theirs and the guards) and the cash bags (estimated to be 2 million dollars) and their masks. The police arrived in short order. Based on the descriptions of their colorful "T" shirts provided by the guards the suspects were apprehended less than two blocks away. Once taken in to the police station they confessed and explained their partner was to pick up the van that evening and meet them at a motel to split the take.  The police rushed back to the parking garage and watched the van on the second level for hours. Finally another suspect arrived on foot and approached...    less

A living directive has many names but it is a document where you lay out your health and treatment preference and you name your health advocate who will legally defend your medical desires. A letter of intent also has many uses but in this case it is one where you voice your druthers regarding your funeral arrangements. Having those documents in place, signed and filed when required will save your family and those who are your executors hours and days of frustrations.  less

We used tokens back then, I think they were 10 or 15 dents each for one ride. Once on the train I was home free. For the past three months he has not only refused to even taste new items but on occasion he has refused his old favorites (like french fries). I need a simple effective, non-violent systematic method to get him to eat.
