Not a thought I have had. But it is not where it came from but where it is and what it stands for. I don't need to look where it was made to decide that.

If burning a flag as a protest is a protected activity (of which I heartily disagree), then I would prefer the flag so desecrated be of foreign origin.
And I would like all US flags flown on state or federal property to be of US origin.
Of course not. The flag is a symbol; as long as it's accurately produced it doesn't really matter about the origin.
Taking this a step further, during the Iran-Iraq war soldiers of one side (I forget which side) were issued with plastic keys to Paradise. The keys were stamped, "Made in Taiwan."
I get your point and add nothing is lost if nothing was sacred. Tis not the vessel but the message. America is not just a place but also an ideal and/or inspiration perhaps to others not living under it.
