When it comes to snitching what is the difference between a "rat" and a "mole"?

Or even a canary?

  • A "rat" gives information against others to profit or avoid prosecution.

A "mole" is a spy but one who appears to be part of the team.

  • Turning states evidence in exchange for an easier sentence of to not be prosecuted.

  • The difference is the side they are working for. If they are on my side, they are moles.
If they are working for the other side, then they are obviously rats.
