I believe there is a Supreme Power and yes that makes me stop doing anything evil or harm anyone intentionally or cause unhappiness willingly. This post was edited by Veena.K at March 18, 2017 5:15 AM MDT

  • Would you still act morally even without a Supreme Power?

I would, my upbringing would stand proof to that.

  • Good.  Then a Supreme Power is not necessary for morality, yes?

  • There is no twisting.  Why evade?

  • Dear Mr. Bromide, no I am not afraid of Yeshua ben Joseph, the Christ...

And yes during my thirty years as an atheist I did behave if anything with even more morality than now I have become religious!
My friend DarkMajinn on Blurt has a wonderful tape of an atheist explaining how that works...religion quite irrelevant to morality; if anything I am guessing there can sometimes be even an inverse correlation... This post was edited by Benedict Arnold at March 18, 2017 5:35 AM MDT

  • No, but I'm terrified of Mrs Didge. She's scary.

And she sure knows how to twist you around her little finger, my friend...your mention of her is always so sweet;)) This post was edited by Veena.K at March 18, 2017 12:30 AM MDT

  • I have to keep mentioning her. She's the reason for almost all my stories. She usually figures in there somewhere.

Maybe unknowingly and without thinking she figures in your writings because her presence is felt by you even subconsciously.

Many may say they fear him, as in respecting him, but by their acts they prove otherwise. (Matthew 7:16)

    No.

P.S.  Taa Daa!  I never thought I would see the day I could actually answer a question in word with one syllable.
It's the little things in life that astonish me at times. :) :)

  • But...but,...dear Merlin...we MUST keep the perissology (a defunct word) going...no, always use as many words as possible! :)  ;)  <3

You are awesome Virginia!!  You have not only expanded my vocabulary but shown true appreciation for language.  It is amazing to me how fast definitions and words change.  As you have shown in your last two posts, some of the neatest words are left by the wayside.
I looked up brabble, perissology and freck.
I was pretty confident I knew freck. Then I realized I had mistaken it for either Frick or Frack.  That is a term I haven't heard or seen in a while. Big smiles.  I was glad to think of it after being led there by your freck :)
Thanks again Virginia for keeping us enlightened on fun and words forgotten.  :)

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom.

But that's the Old Testament God.

    Jesus is different.

    Nope.

However, I am afraid of the guy down the road who, during every full moon, seems to suddenly become very hairy & runs around on all fours howling his stupid head off.

  • No. Yeshua has been dead for two thousand years, and that wasn't his message. I don't fear the dead, but I am averse to the misuse of their preachments.
