Why when a guy sees another guy with a great gal he thinks "I want one just like her" but when a gal sees another gal with a great guy

Years ago, I was friends with could minimally be called "a stunningly beautiful blond."

One guy who observed us out together commented that he would give me $5 for the name of my cologne---a decent amount of money at the time.  (I had just stopped off on my way home from hunting and fishing an hadn't seriously attempted to clean up.)
