What was your favorite Twilight Zone episode?

This question is inspired by a post from Winged Wonder on another question we answered.

What was your favorite episode of Twilight Zone?

There are so many that I can label as really great and a classic but I think my favorite episode is the one with Burgess Meredith "Time Enough At Last"

So, what's yours?

Great great episode Rooster!  I am trying to find a video that shows the highlights but I'm having trouble locating one.  Maybe someone else might be able to pull it up and post it.

  • The one you posted in the question. I'm an avid reader and that one really made me sad.

It really is the ultimate definition of irony for an avid reader.

  • It hurt my soul. I remember seeing it when I was a kid, I almost started crying for him. I was reading before I started kindergarten, so I already had a great love for books bask then.

  • Well the original series was consistently spectacular with not a dud in the mix.  To this day the greatest television series ever created by a large factor.

It's so hard to pick a favorite and it kinda changes one thought to the next.  I'm just gonna narrow it down to The Invaders,  Will the Real Martian Please Stand up, and Stop Over In a Quiet Town.
Really though there isn't a single episode in it's roster that isn't superb.

You've also picked some great ones!  I know it isn't easy picking one.  And you mentioned another three of my favorites too.  The Invaders is one that I hands down love because of the lack of dialogue throughout the entire episode until the end.  But, I am an avid reader who needs my glasses to read so the one with Burgess Meredith is the one that has always stayed with me probably because it would be my worst nightmare.

  • That's part of what I really like about it too.

All the Burgess Meredith episodes were exceptionally strong Mr. Dingle the Strong, The Printer's Devil but Obsolete Man was his best one in my opinion.   That was a very powerful message IMHO.

The two of them!  I'd forgotten how powerful that episode truly was.  And of course, Fritz Weaver in the antagonist's role.  He only passed away a few months ago if I recall correctly.

Oh yeah!  I don't know how The Obsolete Man slipped my mind.  Sheesh.  It really is hard to pinpoint one.  You've mentioned another three that I truly loved.  Burgess Meredith was just a force to be reckoned with.  IMHO, one of the most gifted actors of his generation.

  • Yah,  he really was.

The thing that sucks is how hard it is to find the hour long episodes from the 4th Season.   Those don't get aired or released that often.

  • So do I but took me forever to track all of season 4 down in good quality.

Aren't the hour long episodes part of the Sci Fi channel's annual tribute to The Twilight Zone every New Year's Day?  I haven't watched it in years but I seem to recall seeing those episodes included a number of years back.

  • I haven't seen the scyfy channel marathon in years either so not so sure if they did or didn't.  What I remember is they excluded them but I could be wrong since it's been so long.

No one could have delivered a better performance in his role in Rocky.

Yes!  She was fantastic in both.  She was also wonderful in Mrs. Parkington and Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, among other roles.

  • No comparison between the two. Twilight Zone is a total classic. Game of Thrones is a joke.
