I was a young boy, I played the silver ball, from Soho down to Brighton, I must have played them all, but then I started to eat cardboard, and I just can't take a dump.

  • Hi Flipper,
I once discussed that kind of perspective with a friend of mine who was a counselor...that is, the belief there has been a turning point in someone's life after which nothing goes well.

The counselor told me that is a very difficult mindset to overcome; it becomes self-fulfilling. A person's brain engrams get locked in so they just repeat the same negative cascades over and over, from almost any trigger, and can get stronger.

So if this is you, be sure you keep looking and find a way to break up those old brain patterns for something life-giving...no one should spend their life like that!

  • I'm a whinger. As a child I was trained to complain about everything. It was FUN! But ever since I learned that I really had it pretty good nothing has gone well for me. Ah, where are the woes of yesteryear?

  • It's actually not very far from the truth. My little brother, who will be 79 on Thursday, is still whining about everything. He's had plenty of time to work his way out of the early conditioning but he ENJOYS whining. I miss it so much.
