What's the last song you sent to someone, anyone?

Regardless of how long ago, or the motive.

  • That's very pretty WW,
It's very powerful in its simplicity, you know?
    Did the person stay?
    Thanks a lot WW.

  • "...I thought that you'd want what I want, sorry my dear..."
If I had a quarter for every time I've heard that, I'd have at least a couple of dollars, you know?
I've heard that song any times before, but never really paid attention tote lyrics before. It's actually a sad song, isn't it?
I wonder what the author meant with ,"send in the clowns", and what made you send that song to anybody.
    Thanks Ms Virginia.

  • Hi Lago, do you recall in ZORBA THE GREEK, when the aqueduct they worked so hard to build, it collapsed...and what did Zorba do...well he danced?

Well that is like that time of life when everything turns out differently than what we had ever thought, and there is some tragedy involved, some irony too...so what do you do?
Life calls for sending in the clowns sometimes!

Funny you should ask.  I sent an except from Mozart's Requiem to a friend of mine because I didn't know the name or compose.  My friend studied music for eighteen years so he was able to tell me both bits of info. - and I just heard it on the classical music station minutes ago!

  • Oh yes!
Confutatis is my favorite part of he whole piece. I mean, it hits you right in the gut right from the start. I find it sometimes difficult not to choke a little when the change at the 20 seconds mark comes.
That you CallMeIshmael, I've listened to it about 20 times now.

    "An elliptical movement
With the attitude of a snake
    Then make our incisions
Stand on one leg and deviate
    All American action
    All lemonade high
Old and cold and going gold

    A fanatical schism
    As impeccable as a swan
    Psychedelic exactions
that lay me down or lead me on
    In the ballet of Black-Light
And the agony of the fly
    We divide and then collide

    IN THE BLACK-LIGHT-TRAP
    We make all our mistakes
    IN THE BLACK-LIGHT-TRAP
We fool around but that's ok
    IN THE BLACK-LIGHT-TRAP
    in the black-light-trap. . .

    Pornographic implosion
    Sticky animals in the air
    An implaccable suction
That pulls us in and keeps us there
    Cryogenic excitment: Dionysian repartee
Creamed and steamed and quite obscene

    All chemical all funny-man
    and belly-flop all dilly dally

All muddy moan all billy bolly
    all wobble-y all shilly shally"

    Cool stuff.
    :)

I just shared with Lago that I find Shriekback sensual and sexual. The sound of their music is erotic to me often. And if you get the chance, listen to the words of another song off the "Big Night Music" album I like so well. Every song I've shared lately from Shriekback has been off the same album.

(I'm glad I've implanted "Black Light Trap" to your head, ha!)

This time I'm referring to the song "Pretty Little Things" and I've always taken the gay route -- that they're singing about handsome young gay twinks. Listen to the words - - fortunately, lead singer sings very clearly.
    :)

I like the song a lot.

  • You know, I asked my son a while back why they called a certain kind of guy a Twink... I think he may have been messing with me but he said that it came from Twinkies. .  .you know. .  White.    And with ..  you know. .  The filling... I thought, "Is there anything sacred anymore?"
But im sure he was just messing with me. I thought it was funny.

    Hey thanks WW, that's alright!
Can't wait to drop the English term Twank on our friend Lucia, and to thank her for the cultural contribution.
I'll make sure she has you to thank for all the lolz coming.)
