In these modern times have landline phones mostly become tools for sending NOT receiving communique?

In other words if it rings you don't answer.

  • I have a landline.  It is on silent 24/7.  Hours may go by before I see there is a message.

You use it for sending not receiving, correct?

I don't like people calling me on my cellphone so they have to call the landline which I hardly answer unless I'm expecting a call. It's mostly because my cellphone is always off because I don't like wasting the battery.

I don't receive cell signals in my home.  So, I need the landline.  I use it for both receiving and sending.  I will admit to screening calls.  If I don't recognize the number, I don't pick up and let it go to voicemail.
