No. More terrified over a few, and how they believe to know it all, the full truth in debates, and who will show very little empathy, or interest in the others opinions in a debate. I shun away from those as I previously have been using to much energy on, when I have tried to show the missing parts in their logic, and where they are contradictory in their premise.

Try just to avoid them. But sometimes they jump in on a question, or a comment and spread their charm. Meh.

No.  I appreciate wisdom and information.  It's arguments and name calling that create a problem for me.  They don't induce fear, but annoyance and dismay are the words that come to mind.

Agree Harry, annoyance and dismay are but natural if people indulge in name calling, maybe they feel insecure!

There's knowledge and then there is wisdom, most of what people share is knowledge, and that is something they have learned from someone else. I've never seen the point of taking credit for something you and anyone can merely learn just the same. Wisdom however, comes from experience, is a lesson one learns, I cannot see why you would be afraid of that, especially when it could benefit you.

I like your philosophy to sharing knowledge, Pepper Pot; but don't sell yourself short when it comes posting "knowledge."---

If all knowledge were able to be learned at will by those desiring such, teacher would not be a recognized profession.---

And while I have acquired a legitimate amount of wisdom on my own, teachers and mentors (not work related) are part of the mix and provide much synergism.---

    Regards

  • No, not at all. I read and learn quite a bit here and impart my knowledge when I can. As far as wisdom? Somewhat but I'm certainly not afraid of it. Besides, who's to say who's wise and who isn't. Pretty much a person's own interpretation if they see things as knowledge or personal wisdom.

  • Hi Dear Veena.K,
Here is something I have learned:

When I think I have something figured out, or at least getting close...when I think I already have the answer worked out...
...what I like to do is post it, whatever it may be, as a question on AnswerMug; because ALWAYS I learn something, new dimensions, and sometimes I even change my mind totally!

So no I am not frightened as such, because the experience is consistently so good.
    * * *
I do feel a frisson of fear sometimes, however, when I think that someone is going to get angry, to post something harsh or unkind.
However, that does not seem to happen very often here...I hold many unconventional viewpoints/theories, and people are more tolerant here I think.

Here's a definition of wisdom from Wikipedia that I rather like:  wisdom is a disposition to find the truth coupled with an optimum judgement as to what actions should be taken.+++

So from that perspective, I always appreciate and welcome wisdom no matter where I find it---I still learn things about living life from young children who live it without any preconceived notions.

I still maintain a distinct difference between "respect" and "admiration or esteem"; and therefore I still find it necessary at times to be angry, harsh or unkind if appropriate when I am inflicted with what various people to consider to be wisdom and yet has no standing beyond outright, uninformed prejudice.

My wife and I love each other dearly---but let me assure you:  "Real intimacy is rarely polite."  Birth of anything good  is usually accompanied by pain.---Life is not for sissies or those who prefer to have only a receptive audience at whom to spew their crap.
