Hi Mr. Bromide, I don't think operant conditioning has the predominance in my life that B.F. Skinner attributed...but at the same time it's more important than I would like. Sometimes I think one way to express the purpose of life is reclaiming our free will!
The ideas of Max Tegmark, the MIT physicist, are also intriguing...he speculates that in a video game, if the game were complex enough for the figures to be self-aware then eventually the characters would figure out they are just pawns in a mathematical program. And that our own world operates on the rules of mathematics; or more precisely, Tegmark claims that the physical world IS mathematics!
Will you give us your opinion, or what led you to post the question?
