Wedding Gift Suggestions Please?

One of my brothers, FINALLY married his partner of 10 years.  I don't get to see them as often as I would like because they live in another state, but I love them both.  Out of the blue, they went to city hall and done got theirselves hitched!

What do you get a couple that has been together so long and have everything they need?*

*No sex toy suggestions please.  They might be gay, but they are old and wouldn't be amused.

  • What means love and commitment to you?
I'd start thinking along those lines.. Without knowing them is hard to say... Show tickets maybe?

Thanks Ozgirl.  I will tell you I have been drawing a complete blank.  Love and commitment aren't two words I associate with something I can buy but your suggestion actually helps.  I will give it some thought and see what I can come up with.  Show tickets are also something for me to consider.  Thanks again. :-)

They live in New York City so I don't have to worry about a hotel.  However, the shows are expensive.  AND, I have to find one they haven't seen yet.  Hmm.  After reading the other posts, cooking classes or a gift certificate to a specialty food store might be more in line with my budget. ;-) This post was edited by Harry at April 14, 2017 5:38 PM MDT

  • Seriously???

    Well congrats to your brother.
Without knowing what your brother is into, that's hard to say.

For instance... I'm gay and married. We got a chainsaw as a gift from my brother. We live on a mountain in the middle of no where so that was greatly appreciated.  lol

Get something that compliments their lifestyle that they can both use. Do some research

On behalf of my brother and his husband, thanks for the congrats GJ!  You've also made a good suggestion about their lifestyle.  I wish it was as easy as a chainsaw. LOL.  But, I am starting to get some ideas now.  Thanks again. :-)

Two gay men who live in New York City, that's who.  For me, either of those suggestions would be a dream come true!  My old Husky is starting to look tired to me.  I would love a new toy.

Dinner out at a very nice restaurant that they wouldn't go to on their own.  Send a bottle of Champagne to the table or a very good bottle of wine if they don't like that.

I was thinking along the lines of something like that but, like you, they live in NYC.  That will leave me broke!  LOL!  But, I am starting to think along the lines of dinner at a local favorite spot of theirs, maybe a specialty cooking class because they like to cook or, a gift certificate to a specialty food store?  Thanks SpunkySenior.  I appreciate your help.  :-)

That is hard not knowing what they like.
If they enjoy cooking, a cook book always makes a nice gift.
If you don't know what to get, a gift card for their favorite store would be nice too.

Both very good suggestions.  They do like to cook.  And I am starting to think a gift certificate to a favorite specialty store, kitchen store, or maybe Williams Sonoma, so they can buy what they want.  All of these suggestions from everyone are really helping me.  Thanks for responding LM.  I really appreciate it. :-)

I am glad I could help.
I usually give gift cards to people when I don't know what else to give.
    I like them myself.
