Discussion»Questions»Business» Delta Airlines says it will pay a passenger up to $10,000 to leave an overbooked flight. Think that might overreacting or just right? Why?
Airlines are greedy. Cancellations/no-shows mean empty seats that could be filled by MORE paying customers. But it would certainly be fairer. Thank you for your reply Sbf! :)
Of course if you NEVER overbook there will be last-minute cancellations/no shows and all seats won't be filled. But what about having "standby" boardings for those who wanted to get on the flight but were told it was booked? I just realized though that would make folks schlep to the airport and wait around "just in case" which probably isn't very efficient. Thank you for your reply FNR and Happy Monday! :)
