No,  I can assure you America is NOT seen as a benevolent bully, or indeed benevolent in any way.. Americans are famously unaware of what the rest of the world thinks of them.. think of the last war and how the only ones stupid enough to join you were the Brits and that was NOT a move that was in any way welcomed by the people and Blair faced war criminal charges because of it..

Not seen as a benevolent bully by its HATERS and detractors I am sure, but it is the bully called The United States of America the world waits on to do something when need be NOT any other. This post was edited by O-uknow at April 16, 2017 12:58 PM MDT

I am afraid that's exactly the kind of thing I am talking about.. Americans notoriously have a very, and I do mean very, poor idea of how the rest of the world perceives them and their actions...

And the adage that it is only haters who say that, well I am afraid that isn't borne out by reality..  for example... Britland doesn't hate America... so that kinda quashes that argument...

I don't hate America... I am very fond of America and Americans... I've many American friends who I love... so again it's kinda an empty argument

Americans don't seem to want to know the truth... my own feelin is that this buys back into the insular nature of America where they take little interest in the rest of the world, except when it's in their own interests, (cite the last war.. ) and so the perception that Americans often have that they are world wide respected and liked... well unfortunately America's rather insular nature where the largest percentage by far never travel outside their own country... just reinforces the slightly skewed self-image they have...

Oh and the biggest point of all... is that the world DOESNT wait for America to jump in with their size trillion heavy boots... the world doesnt WANT America's clumsy warmongering jumping in... cite the last war again... everyone, ok most thought that America were arrogant and ill-advised starting the last war... and it cost them dear...
