They take them under the delusion someone will want to see them one day.

I don't think all selfies are taken for the purpose of someone else's eyes. It's not self-absorbed to simply appreciate your own beauty - or attempt!

  • I honestly don't think I've ever taken a selfie. At least not one that I've kept and posted anywhere. Even my profile pic was taken my someone else.

  • I only take them as there is no one else here to take my picture and I rarely do it anyway. Only if someone bugs me enough for a picture will I do it.

I think your picture states it all. :)  I know someone else took it.  But, Hey, you can't help it if everyone wants to to photograph you!  You're a Star in more ways than one!!

    HAPPY MAY DAY ROOSTER!!!
I hope your day is filled with lots of sunshine and flowers to dance in!! :) :)

Set up Skype or some other app on your internet device to allow video while communicating. They then can take snapshots of you however many they want :)

I am not a big fan of selfies.  In fact, The only one I've taken was to prove to my sister I went to the dentist.  It was actually of my mouth.  I guess I did take another with Don.  But, that doesn't count as an actual selfie.  Someone was in the picture intentionally too.
I definitely agree that many take them because people are sooooooo self absorbed.  I also think we take them to share where we are.
For example, if we are at the White House and want our friends to see it, we throw our face in front of the phone too.  I don't think it is to prove we are actually there but to say, "Hey, I wish you were here with me."
