Are you overboard and self-assured?

Load up on guns, bring your friends
It's fun to lose and to pretend
She's overboard and self-assured
Oh no, I know a dirty word

I first heard about "Rock Swings" when NPR's Terri Gross (Fresh Aire) interviewed Paul Anka about it. I remember sitting in my car in a Lowe's parking lot listening to the interview, and being very unsure if Anka was being sincere or if it was all a big joke.

These older guys cannot get it through their skulls why some younger generation's music is NEVER going to work for them.    I doubt if Paul Anka has a sense of humor about his music.  He was a teen idol in the 50's.  Pat Boone, slighty before Paul Anka.   I remember Kurt Cobain bemoaning Axl Rose wanting to do Kurt's music and Axl was about 5 years older only.   This Paul Anka cover would make him turn in his grave.  LOL

Oh please, don't call it a cover.  I will think of it as Paul running across the music accidentally  and deciding to give it a go, having no idea of the previous recording by Nirvana.

When I watched 30 seconds of that video I felt sorry for Paul.  Now, he can rock Puppy Love

The Pat Boone bungle is even worse.

    :)
