Discussion»Questions»answerMug Members» I am here. You are there. All of us are everywhere. Long ago on Answerbag some of us got together. Any of you ever get together? Where?
No. I mean face-to-face meeting in one location. In October 2007 some Answerbaggers met at a member's home in Yorba Linda, California! We had a great time! Putting a face to an internet stranger was lots of fun! We chatted and munched on the things the host had provided. We all chipped in to underwrite the cost. I just wondered if Answermuggers have ever been that up for meeting folks they chat with regularly person! Thank you for your reply Ele! :)
I have met a couple of people in person that I originally met online. There were a group of us in my state that were planning to get together two years ago, then the site we were on just shut down in the middle of the day and I lost touch with them.
Bummer! At least you had plans to get together. It's so very rude to just shut down without notice. Answerbag shut down, no notice, at 4pm one afternoon, thanked us for being members. No apology for being rude. No apology for lack of any head's up whatsoever. Had I known I would have exchanged email addresses with more of the Answerbaggers than I did. When things are going well you don't think about the possibility it will stop. Thank you for your reply B and Happy Thursday to thee! :)

I actually had exchanged contact info with several and had it stored there because I had lost a lot of my contact info previously (that I kept in my phone and written down) in a fire. Lol
Yep. That was the first site I had been on, and had been there for years. It shutting down like that was a surprise to us all. That they didn't allow us to retrieve our info in our PMs was just rude, imo.
Absolutely! Answerbag is alive again and apparently intact with all its history. It's so odd. I keep getting emails from the site informing me of answers to my questions. I investigated the resurgent Answerbag a few months ago and asked ONE question. I haven't been back there since. It's not the same. But I guess people can still access my old questions. I was there for 10 years and you know how many questions I ask. It's amazing. Immortality unsought by me from complete strangers! :)
Answermug? Oh. I thought an ex-Answerbagger created it cause he got ticked off with Answerbag and then sold it to JA when he moved on. Not true? Thank you for your reply Karen and Happy Thursday. Wait a minute. Are you talking about the Old Answerbag not being intact? Then why am I getting emails from folks who answer questions I asked long ago? Maybe some history remained about those folks who had been members who showed up as I did to look around?

You said AnswerBag was alive with all it's past history, that's what I was referring to. Wey created the Mug because he likes creating websites. He didn't sell it to JA, he just turned the domain over to her
I'm not sure why you are getting those. None of the data came with the site, all of that is gone. It even stated that on the page for the auction. I'm a member (sorta) there and there is nothing from the old site there.
Our old site is gone. I had a lot of contact info there, and it felt like a kick in the gut when they shut down and locked us out. For a while, you could still access the old questions to view them, but they are now gone, too.
That's sad. Among the many folks with whom I chatted for years on Answerbag were several who became dear friends who died. I always felt comforted knowing that our chats were there still. It was as if they were there still. I know Life goes on and we move on. Even so I would have liked the courtesy of being asked what I wanted done with my history while there. I know NOTHING about what it would entail for me to have been given the opportunity to have it all transferred to me. When you are ignorant you can ask all kinds of "what if" questions because you don't know any better! :)

Thanks LM. Someone mentioned there were still many there recently and I took a look...but there are multiple groups and I cannot imagine how I would even know who the majority are, as hardly anyone used their real name on SH and hardly anyone is using their SH name on FB. The thought of joining 10-20 groups is mind boggling.
