In my previous food services jobs I loathed, hated and despised the holidays, especially the insanity known as "Christmas". Now I work in food services in a hospital and the Christmas season is the most mellow and slow time of the year. I still tend to hate the whole "Christmas Season" which for 6 to 8 weeks entirely takes over everything. The unending, often insipid carols are inescapable. And the bell ringers!! God's blood! I once spat on the Father's Day square on my calendar.
I hadn't thought about how they affect people's work. I suppose they're great for business owners, but the actual workers don't usually get much (if any) share of the wealth, do they?
I find the celebration of the holidays and excuse for abusing alcohol. It is usually when there are most auto related mishaps, if not downright highway carnage.
