What do you think of surfing as an Olympic sport? Should it be an Olympic sport?

Doesn't work if the Olympics are held in a landlocked country, or one where the water is too cold. Fancy surfing at the 1952, 1976 or 1980 Olympics?

Would surfers like it to be an Olympic sport? See, because I remember when the same issue came up about skateboarding, because the skateboarders didn't want it to be commercialised because not only did it take it away from it's roots and culture, but it went from something that was about fun, to something which was about making money. Whenever, this happens all the prices go up, health and safety steps in, and they make money off the back of it.  Skateboarders liked the fact that you needed no money or status to skateboard. I don't care in the least.  Like so many other past fun and meaningful events, the Olympics are now political and can disappear as far as I'm concerned.  Being a National Champion is very very cool.  This post was edited by Thriftymaid at May 15, 2017 6:18 PM MDT

Let's just hope that the waves and the great white sharks co-operate for the games then.

Fair only if a wave machine is used and conditions controlled. Good or bad fortune/Luck should be eliminated as much as possible. This post was edited by O-uknow at May 15, 2017 9:31 PM MDT

Surfing is not a spectator friendly sport, The action is too far away to readily be seen and you anyway you cannot stake out a nice square rectangle of ocean and say: "surf there" ;-))

Only during the winter Olympics...that way the Swiss and Austrians would have a chance.
