I would make a great detective. But I do not like spying on anyone ever. I hate that. I am a very private person. I dislike invading other people's privacy. But if it was a paying job where I was ferreting out a crime, I would think I could do a decent job.

I don't like to spy on people, mainly because I don't like to do to others what I wouldn't like them to do to me. Spying on people is invading their privacy and I hate it when my own privacy is invaded, so why would I want to inflict that on others?
Being a detective isn't the same thing as being a spy. I reckon I could make a good detective if I wanted to, but I don't like the idea of working for the cops. If I did become a detective I would be working for myself and I would not be in any way affiliated to the cops.
Good point. You do have to be a bit of a spy to be a detective and vice/versa. :)
