  • I have been struggling with this. I'm trying to be rational about why I'm having difficulty accepting but these darn emotions keep getting in the way.

When you make "peace" with something you may not be able to change.

Hmm. Emotions... They do play us from time to time. Do you let them run you and your decisions all the time, or do you find them more influencing under certain conditions?

That is very advisable, at least if we cannot turn away from it.

  • A Buddhist belief is we cause ourselves the most pain by refusing to face change .. to learn acceptance ... hard to do at times but necessary

  • i choose to deal with the people i live with in a peaceful manner. i accept them as they are in their present moment. it's not always easy, mind you.

i am forced to accept the truth about facts in my life. if i am handed a piece of knowledge i'd rather not have, it won't change the fact that it's true. if i get good news or have a lovely day for that reason or no particular reason at all, i will gladly accept that, for sure. =)

True. Especially as long as it won't affect negatively on others, with exceptions of course. That's life, not only black and white but mixed with all kinds of grey. Thank you. :-)

  • that's pretty sweet to say.

it's a real laid-back way of dealing with existence. it's easy.

    besides, resistance is futile. ;)

I accept that life can be quite shitty. I can't control what happens to me... but I can control how I react to it.

I do find that I'm quite accepting of the fact that people are not perfect - all I'm asking is you don't lie to me. I'm fine with you being as imperfect as you are if you are honest about it.

I've recently learned to make peace with the end of an important relationship... I've accepted what happened as is, and do not regret any single bit of it. I am a different person because of it, and I think it was an important experience that I needed to go through.

My answer is probably all over the place but I think acceptance is key for me to be able to progress. You need to learn to accept both good and bad things need to happen in life for you to grow.

It made a lot of sense to me. More than you might even be aware about. I can relate, and I'm with you in your approach. Thank you Sapphi. :-)

    Accept me for me.
And I will accept you for you.
I won't judge you or hold grudges against you, I won't make you feel inferior neither will I act like your superior.
I'll do my best to be support you and stick with you even if you hurt me...

But accept me for me, I'm a little messed up, crazy and bipolar.
I am what people call different?
I am what people call a social outcast because I am all in one a jock, a nerd, a geek or whatever you call it.
I'm a bookworm, a wallflower, I like to stick on my own but I do like to go out.

I'm not a serious person because being serious comes with horrific memories of my past so forgive me, forgive me for being childish, its a defense mechanism against this Canvas of pain that surrounds me...

Accept me for me and I'll accept you for you...

  • Passivity to some extent, depending on  "about what", "for/to whom" and "for what purpose".

I don't think I can elaborate more on this.

Interesting. Passivity wasn't what came first to my mind. Thank you so much. :-)
