Evanston, on the border of North Chicago and Evanston used to be really bad. So, things change. I have not been to Chicago in many moon. I grew up there and did not see more crime than any other big city. It comes with the territory.
Yes, things do change. Of course, the papers report that there's more crime now that Rahm Emanuel became Mayor, but who knows and I'm sure NYC doesn't have the best reputation either in spite of the fact that crime is way down. NYC is not even in the top 10 crime cities.
Really? That is amazing news about NYC. Mostly because it does not speak to the fact that NYC is not dangerous, but more to the fact that there are so many contenders that are worse.
Wow. One whole time. Great judgment call. First of all, West Chicago is not Chicago.
The west SIDE of Chicago contains Oak Park as a suburb directly bordering it, and that is a pretty safe town. That whole west area was a pretty safe area.
Well, you GOT me there. It is even worse in the City of Chicago. Horrid. Take the train or the bus or the EL.
But West Chicago is another city entirely. West Chicago is a city in DuPage County, Illinois, United States. The population was 27,086 at the 2010 census. It was formerly named Junction and later Turner, after its founder, John B. Turner, president of the Galena and Chicago Union Railroad (G&CU) in 1855.[3] The city was initially established around the first junction of railroad lines in Illinois,[4] and today is still served by the Union Pacific West Metra service via West Chicago station.
I should explain - I was coming from Indiana and went downtown on my way to Melrose Ave., I think. I was driving a truckload of bolts to the Navastar factory. The radio said it was 'Micheal Jordan Day' downtown, plus road construction on the Dan Ryan. (this was back in the 90's) I was way behind schedule. It sucked!
Oh man. YOU WIN. 1000 percent you win. I would never want to endure that trip. It is not for the faint of heart. All you have to say is TRAFFIC and I cave. HATE traffic and forgot how crowded Chicago is. I am romaticizing the memories, I guess. I forgot why I moved from there. The crowds, the traffic and the weather.
Remember that show Rocky and Bullwinkle? They had a character on there called Pearl Pureheart. That is you. Ooops! Wrong cartoon show. It turns out it was Mighty Mouse that had Pearl.
