As I have previously noted, if one person (with the aid of technology) can produce all the goods and services necessary for 10 people, the other nine people have nothing to do. It doesn't matter if they are lazy or industrious. Their labor is not needed.

Unfortunately, because most people's understanding of economics is intimately linked with their authoritarian notions about the alleged value of "hard work", the above fact of life (admittedly somewhat exaggerated) is difficult for them to grasp.
