Has knowing how to diagram a sentence ever been useful for you in real life?

I hated that, I always got it wrong. English was my best subject, but this never clicked for me. 

I hated it and seriously just stopped trying.  I was smart enough to know that living, career, and raising a family would never require sentence diagramming.............................unless teaching was the profession to which I aspired.  Never!  I knew kids were a lot of trouble even when I was still one of them. 

It never made any sense to me. It looked too random, and foreign.
