I tried to figure out how this response is thoughtful, useful, helpful or informative. I confess I failed. If you are interested in reading an example of what a thoughtful, useful, helpful and informative answer is please read the response I received from tom jackson. In case you might care in the future to provide such reply. This post was edited by RosieG at June 8, 2017 1:47 PM MDT

  • As many here have chosen to simply ignore your daily contribution, feel free to ignore mine.

No.   I mean I cannot tell you what can be invented 100 years from now, of course.
But I am thinking along these lines.   They have prisons where you cannot get out?   People escape.  Against all odds.

My point?   Whenever there is a mind that is intelligent and focused, anything is possible.  If it can be made, it can be unmade.  If it has any access to be hacked, someone will discover a way.

I made your point?   I answered.  You did not.  Seriously.

I mean 'seriously' could also mean the exact opposite.  SO, I don't know if you were just waiting for an answer you liked (like mine?) or if you really had an answer all along.

The hackers will always be a half step in front of the hackees. A technician told me to prevent from being hacked, turn off my computer and don't download anything suspicious looking. My bank sent a warning to all of its customers to beware of new phishing techniques,

Here is the only hackproof computer:

Aside from a broken computer the next best thing is a computer that never connects to the internet or any other computers, networks or devices.

    my2.

Someone could put it back together and find a way.  Where there is a criminal mind? There is a way.   You need to burn that thing.

Very cute m2c. In other words if it works and is hooked to the internet someone will be able to hack it.  Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday! :)

Build your own without wi-fi and don't connect it to the internet.  Download using another computer and transfer the files you need to the one you built after vetting them.

AHAH! So there is way then. Amazing. Of course if you don't connect to the internet you lose much of the benefit like emails and researching different subjects. I can still use the word processor features and play poker and the Scrabble-like game called Bespelled. I guess life is all about compromise tom. You have to give some stuff to get some other stuff.  Would  you or have you actually ever done it?   Thank you for your thoughtful and helpful response!  I appreciate it.

I have one computer set up that way right now.

Both it and my primary computer are both on my desk.

As I said, I can transfer a clean file at any time.
