Do you let folks know what you expect from them...what lines not to cross or do they guess and then you smack them for being wrong?

It is said that you teach people how to treat you. Some know instinctively the right thing to do and don't need instructions. Others are not so bright so you need to give them guidelines/parameters/signposts. Fair is fair.
