Discussion»Questions»Random Knowledge» When you're trying to focus/concentrate do you need complete silence, music playing in the background, or can you shut out everything?
I kinda like music playing softly in the background. I can also shut out everything and focus intently. Thank you for your reply whistle and Happy Tuesday! :)
When I'm focusing I can block out everything. I like soft music too. When I do block everything out I'm in a different place/space completely and totally unaware of my surroundings. Thank you for your reply Spunky! :)
i need complete silence and thanks to the construction guys outside i ended up flunking out of school cause i couldnt study, and if i went to the college library people would talk, i actually sent a letter to the place thats building and told them after all the inconvenience this past yr and flunking out of school cause of all their noise it would be nice if they made up for it by hiring me when they open up. wonder if they will
Who did you write it to? ??? The construction company? What are they going to hire you for? You need to ask for a job that needs you not the other way around.
You cannot expect a construction firm to hire you like they are giving you some gift you deserve. A job takes skill. If you cannot type or do office work, or have no filing experience, or have never worked for a construction company before, they are not even going to read the letter past the first paragraph.
Also, you need to write and punctuate and spell correctly and use correct sentences. I hope you did that.
But they still are not going to hire you. That is not how to get a job with a construction firm. You have to present skills they need and prior references that deal with the ability to do something in the construction field.
You seriously think that flunking out of school is a way to impress them? And then try and blame them for it?
This is a letter for a complaint department. Not a Human Services Department.
I love The Pearl. I really do, but she is not getting a job this way. I will be so elated if I am wrong. But? That is not the way to get attention. It may get a smile, but I doubt if it will do more than that. I'm crossing my fingers for her.
LOL No kidding, Rosie, there are a lot of things to do besides just feeling victimized. You need to think out of the box for a solution because the construction company is not going anywhere until they are done constructing. $$$$$$$
Indeedy do do do there is is is. I wrote what I wanted to write and you did the same. I did not question you. Maybe I should? Thank you for your reply Shar.
Ours is too. I can block out everything and concentrate with no problem. Thank you for your reply Lulu'sMom and Happy Tuesday! I'm a retired former Internal Auditor. You can't pick your surroundings. You go in to a variety of situations..some quiet, some very noisy. You have a job to do and you just block out everything distracting and dive in. :)
Me too. I can block out everything, dive in and get lost in whatever I'm doing. But if you try to get my attention and break my concentration unless the building is on fire I'm not going to be a happy camper. I am a retired Internal Auditor. When my office door was closed NO ONE disturbed me including my boss. When it was open I was open for conversation. Unless you've been there you have no idea how long it takes to get back to the place you were before an inane interruption. If someone is going to drop by and say "so what did you do this weekend?" that is not going to bode well for anyone. It could have waited. It was not essential. It could have waited. SIGH. Thank you for your reply Shar and Happy Tuesday! :)
I like to put on my headphones and blast my music when I really need to get down to business. For me, silence is too distracting when I'm trying to concentrate.
I like music playing in the background but when I focus intensely I can block out anything except someone interrupting my concentration by talking to me directly. Thank you for your reply Karen and Happyt Tuesday! :)
