Among strangers do you clam up or open up? Are you a conversation starter/joiner-inner/avoider? Why ?

I would have to say I'm a conversation starter. I like people and I like to talk to them. I avoid going through a self-check out at the store because I'd much rather talk to a human being than too stand there in a self-checkout listening to a computer voice with it's beeps, whistles, and buzzes.
