I wonder that myself. It's pretty stupid if you ask me. The world is a big place and there are so many other places to go. Why go to that dirty armpit of a country
It hints at blame the victim. Still I have wondered the same thing. Just like I did when US or British hikers were captured in Iraq or the white Christian evangelist killed in Somali water some years ago. Maybe it is some perverse self challenge, "I'm so cool nothing will happen to me."
