Pretty much.   When I had more money, I had a regimen and I cannot afford it right now so skin must suffer, I guess.  But I still try and keep it moist especially down HERE.

Not sure which products you use, and of course everyone's skin is different, but I've used Neutrogena liquid facial soap and their most inexpensive moisturizer for twenty years.  No one ever guesses I'm over 70.  I have very few wrinkles or crow's feet.

You have very few problems, and good genes.

I know people who have naturally magnificent skin and that is great.  That stuff would never work for me, would break me out and make things much worse.

My skin is in good condition because I take care of it, eat vitamins, drink lots of water and cleanse with expensive cleansers, moisturizers and stuff you cannot get off the shelves unless you go somewhere that sells stuff like Perricone.

I know you are right, but if that stuff truly worked for everyone, it would be more expensive, trust me.  It barely works unless your skin is great to begin with.

I know people who swear by Pantene.  If I used stuff like that on my hair, I would have no hair.

    Just high maintenance, I guess.

Agreed - everyone's skin is different.  It's unfortunate that you need to use products that are so expensive.  One of my sisters swears by Cinique, but it made my skin feel so dry I couldn't use it.

  • I can see the need for it in that area of the world.

Yes.  You reach a certain age and you have to.

Best when you start early - before it gets to the point where it's a MUST.

The one thing I regret the most is sitting out in the sun with no protection when I was young.  I think our whole generation was sold on that notion that getting a nice tan made you look healthy.  Glad the word got out there that sun screen is your best friend.

I agree.  Nothing will age your skin faster than the sun.  I have two sisters who are younger than me who are avid sun worshippers.  They both look like California raisins and both look older than I do.  My youngest sister fortunately is a believer in sunscreen.

Add in those that smoked with the sun worshiping and they really look like leather hand bags.  I developed vitiligo in my early 30s and that pulled me right out of the sun since any tan will make my white spots pop out.  I'm lucky to have a very fair complexion, so my vitiligo is not that noticeable.

Yes, we were all smokers, too, but gave it up.  For me, it's been more than 30 years since I had a cigarette.  I don't sit in the sun much because I'm fair skinned and I burn too easily.  Just not that important anymore.

Probably the best thing we've done for ourselves.  Smoking is an awful habit and expensive!  A pack of cigarettes in NYC is about $13.

I think what really helped me was having smoking eliminated from many public places.  I was mostly a "social smoker".  It also helps that most people around me don't smoke and never have.

It feels good to know I will not light up again.

I gave it up when one winter day, I came home from work, walked in the apartment and realized that it smelled like an ashtray.  I realized that the only two things I didn't do with a cigarette in my hand was shower and make love.  I was disgusted enough to want to stop.

I was tired of apologizing to my non smoking loved ones for my dirty habit, even though they never said a word to make me feel bad.  I had many long periods in my life of not smoking, so I knew this was something I could do.  I simply quit cold turkey and that was it.  I no longer miss a cigarette on any occasion.  That is how I know I am quit for good.  My health means too much to me now.

Everyone I knew smoked, so that wasn't a problem.  I never looked back either once I decided to give it up.  I can't imagine taking up the habit again.

Very true.  My 97 year old MIL never went into the sun without protection.  I can tell you that her skin is nearly flawless, even though she has some natural aging.  She knew something way back then.
