Trump SAID he would never lay out a plan in advance but would be unpredictable. Not give "the enemy" any heads up. He gave Syria/Assad a HEAD'S UP! What's the deal here? What's REALLY going on? Chain rattling, muscle flexing, threatening?
Probably because he's bluffing. Boots on the ground would be a disaster and Trump knows it.
He's just trying to manipulate the situation. By threatening Assad he shows strength.
There is no evidence that Assad even carried out the chemical attack and he had no motive to do so whatsoever. Trump will know that too. He's just maneuvering. I doubt it's really about Assad. It will be about projecting strength to Russia and China.
