Should I tell my Mom?

My Mom makes insanely good Mac -n- Cheese.  When her kids visit it is always the supper for the first evening.  Recently I have found a brewery which makes Mac ALMOST as good.  Should I tell Mom there is competition?

No.  If she is anything like my mom was, you need to tell her it was excellent but still not as good as hers.

THINK MAN.  Put yourself in her place.

  • Well said.  But if she knew there is competition she might strive with great effort to exceed her best.

  • Well the other thing I like to do when I'm visiting and having a meal is taste it and appear very concerned.  Then say, "Hummmm.  It is good but it is missing something."  Ah! Cat hair!"

  • On the other hand my work place makes the most wretched, god awful pitiful excuse of Mac I ever gagged on.

I know that kind of mac and cheese.  They serve it at Cracker Barrel.  It tastes like salt.  UGH.

  • Why would you want to hurt your mom's feelings? My mom was actually a really bad cook. lol
I never told her that, but I think she knew.  She did cook somethings pretty good, though...like cream of wheat and water

  • NO! Not to hurt he feeling but to encourage her to exceed her best.

  • Why? She's been doing great so far. Your words. Not mine. "Insanely Good" I'd leave it at that

  • Oh there was a time I was car shopping, or some such, and said, "My real Mom would buy it for me."  To which she replied, "I hope you find her one day." Zapped!

You are a sweet son.  I can see this.

Sweet son.  With a stomach ulcer from mom's cooking and yet too kind to mention this.

  • Actually...I eat so fast I never noticed the taste, but it was she who had the ulcer. You have no idea what a precocious imp I was. lol

I have no idea?   You have no idea who I am if you think that you don't know that I am not surprised one iota.

If you tell her, you may never taste her mac and cheese again. She'll just tell you to eat at the brewery. Trust me, I miss my mom's potato salad.

I'd say, 'Hey Mom...there is a place that MAY just rival your Mac n cheese...You should challenge them to a Mac n cheese duel!!' Lol. I don't think it would hurt anyone's feelings if you said it 'rivaled' hers..maybe she'll start her OWN mac n cheese place !!!!
