Would you stop using the internet if the Government charged you for a USE TAX? I know. It depends on how much they charged, right?

How much is too much? The government could monitor each location and send out monthly bills just like utility companies. Or they could debit your bank account directly because the amount you owed would vary from month to month depending on your usage and the government doesn't like to wait for its money.

  • Rosie, this USE TAX has to do do with Amazon not paying sales tax to the states they are in. It has nothing to do with the rest of us.

I didn't know anything about that Karen. That's not what caused me to ask this question. I don't keep up with what goes at Amazon. I don't Amazon or Facebook or YouTube or Twitter or eBay or any of that stuff that zillions of others do. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday.

  • I just heard this phrase the other day and it was all about Amazon. I figured that's where this question stemmed from.
    Happy Friday!!

The taxes ARE THE SAME EACH MONTH. MY USAGE VARIES. Therefore the taxes cannot be based on amount of usage which is the question I am asking.

It is a use tax...a flat one or a percentage of the flat rate your are paying for internet or your usage remains in the same rate usage bracket so it is the same monthly.
Everyone's bill is different. Mine used to fluctuate (and my tax fluctuated with it) until I upped my monthly usage to unlimited.
