The internet is already privatized. The government has zero to do with it. Internet access suppliers control it. What if that changed?

What if the government took over and governmentized internet usage? What problems do you foresee if that were ever to be?

The internet is not Privatized. Its backbone, DNS libraries and routing servers are largely supplied by universities and Colleges spread over the US. That means that whoever bought part of it would have to pay the cost of setting up and maintaining all those servers. I doubt anybody will be willing to take on those expenses any time soon.

What is privatized is Access to the internet. Whether via broadband or dialup phone links. The Telephone companies own that and provide the service for money with very different levels of competence. a side effect of that is that rural areas usually are undersupplied. It will be a huge investment to lay enough cables to give every farm or summer-cottage broadband access, so mostly they do not have that option. The government (any countries government) controlling the net would be very bad indeed. Of course, they are always talking about trying to control or censor parts of it. Communist countries aim for total control. However, it can't really be done.
