Do we own our lives or does the state own them? Which entity has a final say in what happens to us? Why?

After all that is said and done, the state is just a freckle on the face of Shiva.   Shiva is eternal and so are we.

So, after all is said and done, we win on that score.

My eye doctor says I have a 'freckle' on the back of my eye.  It is fairly common and has no effect on vision.

  • Shar to the Rona, ah yes, Shiva the destroyer of the world. Is Shiva the highest ranking god or does he fall in behind Vishnu the preserver and Brahma the creator? Which god do you follow or do you split your time between the three? Or are those three manifestations of the same god? Humans are eternal? Which part of a human is eternal, the body, the mind, the soul, or the spirit? The soul? I do believe that Hindus believe that the soul is eternal. According to the Bible, GOD can destroy both body and soul. Which tells me that the soul isn't eternal unless Creator God of the Bible says so. Hindus also believe in reincarnation where the soul migrates from body to body but again the Bible says that it is appointed unto man "once" to die, then the judgment. Unless of course one can escape the judgment of God and sneak into another body. Something tells me that Creator GOD of the Bible wouldn't allow that to happen.

We own our own lives.  However, many give themselves to the State so that it will "take are of them" and do the things they don't want to do (IE help others who are in need).  So, after a while, people have become fully dependent on the State and can no longer do anything for themselves (and don't have no true desire to ever do so - despite their "complaining").
WE have the final say in what happens to us (we always have).  It's just that it was easier to surrender that say to someone else (we don't want to be bothered with such trivialities).  And, like always, those to who we surrendered our 'say' to to grew corrupt (thirsting after money and power) and have turned into our oppressors - just like those we sought to get away from in the first place.  We can gripe and moan about it all we want, but we have no one to blame for our predicament but ourselves.

  • Do we own our own bodies? No. Does the state own our bodies? No. What entity has the final say in what happens to us? I imagine that you've heard the following phrase--  "Our bodies-our rights"! What does this statement really mean? The people chanting this are actually expressing their belief that since they own their bodies, they have a right to do with them whatever they decide. This is obviously an anti–God statement! The fact that there is a God who is the Creator means that He owns our bodies—we do not own them. Not only that, but the Bible tells us He purchased us at price—the death of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The point is that God alone has total right over our bodies. He owns us, for he created us.  If one does not accept the fact of God as Creator, then the only other option is that we evolved by chance and random processes. If we are the result of chance evolution, then no one else owns our bodies—we would be just animals in the fight for survival. The belief in chance and random processes is in and of itself is a bleak way of living one's life. In my opinion of course.

That's true, we don't really own anything here. Everything was made by God and for God (through Christ) - Ephesians  1:16.  God allows us to use His things - including these temporary bodies, noting here is truly ours to own.  God allows us to choose what we do with our bodies (and we will be judged on the deeds we do in the body).  Since the body belongs to God we ought to treat it with respect - just as we would with anyone else's borrowed property.
