The House Armed Services Committee has voted to create a 6th branch of the armed services. The US Space Corps. Why?

I thought the GOP liked small government. How can creating ANOTHER branch of the military facilitate that goal?

    I believe the aim of the u.s. military is to establish a military base perhaps on the moon, or have control over outer space.

    Really? Things aren't bad enough on earth because of humans? Now we're going to ruin the universe? Thank you for your reply Autumn. i wonder if the members will take trips to different planets scouting out which will be "best"? I wonder what the cost for this new branch of government will be and what will be accomplished?

    It's about military dominance and competing with Russia. I wouldn't be worried about this i really don't think any of this will transpire.
