    That is their low-level lesson in survival.

    That is how they stay viable.  Or they get eaten alive.  I know this fact because there are so few honest politicians that are even in the main news.

    The humble and quiet always take a back seat these days to the pushy and rotten.

    There are so few of them. Susan Collins comes to mind. In some respects Lindsay Graham and John McCain have moments when they say the right thing too. Rand Paul states his case intractably and is rigid in his  Libertarian demands. He is a useless politician in my opinion though he does not flipflop as most pols do. At least he is always dependably predictable to do the selfish self-centered self-involved thing. SIGH. Thank you for your reply Shar! :)
