I've always worn briefs; I prefer the feel of the "support" and boxer-briefs tend to ride up for me. 

Some boxers make cute shorts if you make sure the "hole in front" stays closed.   (buttons or some such)

I prefer briefs.....don't like 'stuff' movin' around in there!!  HOWEVER as a gay man I like boxers on guys who 'show', if you know what I mean......esp. black and Latino guys.....oh wait, not to infer that there are not any really hung white guys, but they tend to be in the minority!!  tee hee.........
