Well, even that is debatable, new friend. Actions in life and substance abuse contribute.

I won't argue that sometimes those are factors. Even so, they aren't consciously choosing to become ill. Plenty of people make poor choices and abuse substances and aren't afflicted with mental illness. The factors that most contribute are nature and nurture, and no one gets a choice in that.
